NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Union County Board of Elections will hold an Absentee Ballot meeting on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Monroe Library Griffin Room located at 316 East Windsor Street in Monroe. Immediately following the conclusion of the Absentee Ballot meeting, the Board will hold its Regular Meeting. On November 8, 2022, Union County voters will go to the polls to vote for several federal, state and local offices. A primary election to determine candidates who will be on the ballot in November 2022 will be held on March 8, 2022. The primary election will determine which candidates representing the Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties will be on the general election ballot.  Unaffiliated candidates do not participate in the primary election.

Per North Carolina Session Law 2021-107, no person who has been convicted of a felony may run for the office of sheriff in the state of North Carolina. This law went into effect on October 1, 2021 and includes people who have completed their sentence or have had their conviction expunged from their record.
